When traveling with the family, sometimes it’s hard to find a hotel that allows children and has everything you are looking for. At Playa Palms Beach Hotel we have everything you need to spend an unforgettable family vacation in Playa del Carmen.
The big family vacation you’ve probably been counting down for months is finally here! Sure you are excited to spend time with your family without worrying about being late for work, school duties or home chores. A family vacation is all about balance and it’s important for parents to also have time for yourselves. Here are some ideal activities for the whole family including the kids, “We Time”, and some perfect “Me Time” activities just for mum and dad.
We Time: Xel-ha
You will have just as much fun as your kids in the beautiful aquatic themed park, about 30 minutes from Playa del Carmen. Snorkel amongst colorful fish or in fresh cenotes, get your adrenaline pumped while flying on zip-lines over the jungle or discover native animals and plants under and above water. While your kids will love the Children’s World with a wading pool, water slide, rope climb, and other fun activities, exhausted parents can relax in the quiet hammock area.
Me Time: Catch
The roof top bar on the 12th Street between 5th and 10th Avenue, just a few steps from Playa Palms Beach Hotel, offers the most spectacular view over Playa del Carmen and the Caribbean Sea. Enjoy a gourmet dinner or just relax with a delicious drink or a glass of wine and take in the view.
We Time: Casa Sofia
Especially when traveling with toddlers, eating out can be a challenge. Not at the Italian Restaurant Casa Sofia on Avenida Aviacion close to the Paseo del Carmen mall, at the south end of the 5th Avenue. They serve delicious food (and what kid doesn’t like Spaghetti or Pizza?) and, most importantly, they have a huge play corner for children.
Me Time: Cirque du Soleil Joyà
The breathtaking visual spectacle takes you on a performance-packed journey in the mysterious Mayan jungle. Accompanied by a 3-course meal, this night also turns into a culinary experience. You can either opt for dinner and drinks or get an all-inclusive ticket to add Champagne and a seating close to the stage. Show times are from Tuesday to Thursday at 9 pm, and Friday and Saturday at 7 pm and 10:15 pm.
We Time: Captain Hook Pirate Show
Enjoy the most fun dinner cruise in Cancun, aboard a reproduction of a 18th-century Spanish galleon ship. This experience is tailored for children and adults alike, with a beautiful view of the Nichupté Lagoon shoreline, a delicious dinner, open bar, comedy, games, and music. While mum and dad enjoy dancing and a drink, the kids will have fun treasure hunting. The evening ends with an exciting ship-to-ship battle and fireworks.
Me Time: Spa
Reload, recharge and relax. Is there any better way to pamper yourself and forget about the daily hassles than at a nice spa? Bric Spa right off the 5th Avenue on 28th Street, about 10 walking minutes from Playa Palms Beach Hotel, offers a wide array of spa treatments and massages. They even go beyond the norm and also offer more specialized services such as Reiki healing sessions, deep tissue, trigger point therapy or biomagnetic therapy.
Our staff at Playa Palms Beach Hotel is happy to help you organize any of these activities, or tailor-make your itinerary with whatever adventures you and your family are looking for.

Next Sunday is Father’s Day. Let’s celebrate the fathers and father figures in our lives! We did so, by asking the dads on Playa Palms Beach Hotel’s staff how becoming a father changed their lives. The answers are truly heart-touching.
Benito (Housekeeping Supervisor)
I just became a father 4 weeks ago. The day my daughter was born was the most beautiful day of my entire life. I can’t even find the words to express how lucky I am! Being a father to me is a huge responsibility, but one I love to have. Taking care of her, looking after her means everything tome. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to see her happy!
Sergio (Administrations Manager)
My daughter is the love of my life. She changed my life so deeply, in every possible aspect, I don’t even know where to begin to explain! Being a father one surely has to sacrifice a lot, but you get so much more back in return.
Ivan (Front Desk)
Being a father for me meant to learn a new form of loving. She is the most important being in my life. It meant finding this new energy within myself, to strive for improvement not only financially, but also spiritually. The way my daughter looks at me makes me feel unique and irreplaceable. This makes me live more prudently, knowing that I’m now someone being looked up to, an example to follow.
Becoming a father made me become a man. Before I had goals in life only for myself and for my own well-being. Now my first concerns are my two sons and my most important goal in life is to provide them the best possible life. The best part of being a father? Well, making the babies!
I love that my son and I share the same hobbies. I just genuinely enjoy spending time with him. He’s my most faithful companion! I’ve always been someone who loves sharing with others, but with him it’s more than that. It’s like giving a part of myself. And talking about sharing, we not only share the same name, we also share the same birthday!
Becoming a father meant giving up part of my freedom. I’m needed at home now, by my family. But it I have never, not once regretted it. There’s nothing more beautiful than coming home to my kids, nothing more valuable than the time spent with my family.
To all fathers, may you have the most wonderful time with your family!
Are you traveling with kids? Here are some places and restaurants your whole family will enjoy on your vacation in Playa del Carmen.
This aquatic themed park offers all kinds of fun activities: swim in cenotes, snorkel among colorful fishes, get your adrenaline pumped on zip-lines, discover native animals and plants… Your kids will love the Children’s World with a wading pool, playground, water slide, rope climb, to only name a few. Just next to it, exhausted parents can relax in the quiet hammock area. Since the park is all inclusive, there are several restaurants and bars.
The Riviera Maya sure doesn’t lack Mayan sites. But not all of them are fun for smaller kids. In Cobá you can ride bikes from the entrance to the pyramid which is fun for kids and you’re passing through beautiful landscape. You might even hear howler monkeys! Plus, there are several cenotes nearby to cool off on a hot day.
If you want to spend the day at the beach with kids, Akumal is a cute town, its paradisiacal beach has shallow water and is great for snorkeling. Akumal is especially famous for its turtles, but the coral reef also abounds with colorful fishes and you may even see sting rays.
The perfect place for meat lovers with kids. The fixed-price includes continued table service of delicious charcoal-grilled meat options. Your kids won’t get bored, since they can play at the playground in the restaurant. The Steakhouse is on the 5th Avenue with 34th Street, about a 10 minutes walk from Hotel Playa Palms.
You can enjoy your meal right on the beach while keeping an eye on your little ones building a sandcastle and playing. Restaurant Indigo offers a range of national and international delicacies. It’s next door to Hotel Playa Palms and we offer a discount on their breakfast and lunch. Just ask at the reception!
You can get more information, and book a tour or transportation with our Concierge Carlos or at the front desk of Hotel Play Palms.
