Planning a vacation for the extended family is one of the best ways to create lifelong memories. The types of memories you create is largely dependent on the itinerary. If you aren’t careful, you may find older adults aren’t able to keep up with a demanding pace, younger ones can melt down if activities are boring or run back-to-back, and teenagers…well…good luck with that one.
Vacationing in Playa del Carmen: Plan a Trip the Whole Family Can Enjoy
The best advice we can give is to plan an itinerary that offers a little bit of everything and can be tailored for multi-generational interests. With a little forethought, you’ll have memories that everyone will smile about.
- Call a Family Meeting. Have everyone give their list of the top three things they want to do while vacationing in Playa del Carmen. Explain that while they may not get to do everything on the list, everyone will have at least one of their requests fulfilled. This makes it easier to spread the wealth and ensures everyone gets to see, do, or participate in something important to them.
- Choose reasonable accommodations. Make sure there is enough comfortable sleeping room for everyone, and book accommodations within walking distance of a variety of attractions so people have the flexibility to come and go as they please, even when others want to stay in, relax, nap, snack, or take advantage of hotel amenities.
- Plan plenty of time to relax. Visiting a foreign country, especially one that offers so many things to do and see, can make the planners in the group go crazy. If you’re not careful, every minute gets booked up and this can be stressful. Schedule plenty of free time, or optional activities, to strike a health balance between activities and down time.
