When traveling to Playa del Carmen, you sure want to visit the most beautiful Rivera Maya beaches – since that is one of the features we are famous for. Playa Palms Beach Hotel has its own exclusive beach, but there are so many more fantastic beaches! Here are our favorite ones, in the Riviera Maya and beyond.
I love spending my days off with my family at this beautiful beach. The place is only about 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen and really great to go with children. The water is shallow, there are barely any waves and the beach clubs don’t charge as much as in other places.

My favorite Riviera Maya beach is Xcacel. Since it’s part of a nature reserve, the beach is very well taken care of and clean. Make sure to check out the cenote when you going! It’s very beautiful plus you can get rid of all the salty water from swimming in the sea. In case that you’re traveling on a budget, you might appreciate that you can bring your own drinks and snacks – as long as you clean up after yourself.

I used to go a lot to this gorgeous beach, which is mainly visited by locals. It’s nice to swim since there are not many stones and if you bring your kids they can also jump into the shallow cenote. It’s also one of the only beaches I know that have facilities for people with special needs, who use a wheelchair. But I think what I like most about this beach is that it doesn’t get crowded – at least not during the week.

Las Palmas (Tulum)
Even though it takes you about an hour to get to Tulum, I love going there on my days off. It’s just such a peaceful place! The beach is really big, so you always have some privacy and don’t have to sit next to someone else. There’s a parking lot too, so you can easily get there by car and bathrooms. Furthermore, there is an on-site restaurant that serves delicious seafood among other things.

This is by far my favorite Riviera Maya beach. It’s never crowded since Soliman Bay is a bit secluded and not known by many people. Therefore the beach is very clean too, and the water is incredibly transparent. Another fact I love is that you can buy fresh fish from the fishermen there, and they will prepare it for you at the Chamico restaurant. All this make Soliman Bay a little piece of tropical heaven.

Playa Norte (Isla Mujeres)
Since this beach is on Isla Mujeres, makes rather for a day trip, but the beach is totally worth it. Just imagine the tropical paradise you’re probably dreaming with when planning your trip to the Caribbean – this is Playa Norte. The water is crystal clear and shallow, you can literally walk in quite far. And the sunsets over the Caribbean Sea are simply breathtaking! The only downside is that in high season it can get quite crowded.
