Who follows our blog, knows that one of our favorite repetitive guests is Santa Claus. He usually stays at Playa Palms Beach Hotel a few days in December. This year he is visiting together with his wife, Mary Christmas. While last year we wanted to know what he likes most about Playa del Carmen, now we asked more intimate questions and learned who really manages his business and that he had to go in therapy.Read More >>
During your vacation at Playa Palms Beach Hotel, we strive to make your vacation in Playa del Carmen a memorable one. But as they say, you need to love yourself first to be able to love someone else – that applies to work too. Only because we truly love our jobs are we able to provide a service and an experience that you will love. Here’s what our staff likes most about their jobs and their favorite anecdotes:
Your flight tickets are ready, your room at Playa Palms Beach Hotel is booked, luggage is packed and you even googled Playa del Carmen and know which places you want to see. In other words, you are all set for your vacation in the Riviera Maya. But there is one more thing you could do that will have a big impact on your trip: learn some useful words in Spanish!
One of the biggest draws in Mexico is without a doubt the iconic Chichen Itza, the remains of a big Maya city. Impressive enough as it is, only twice a year you can witness a truly awe-inspiring event.
Kick of the new year at the biggest event in Playa del Carmen! The globally famous BPM festival is about to start and if you are staying at the Playa Palms Beach Hotel, you are right in the middle of everything. Here’s why you shouldn’t miss out.
What started as a rather small underground event, has grown into one of the most well know electronic music festivals in the world with almost 70,000 people attending last year. This year from January 6 – 15, the BPM Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary – pleasant surprises are guaranteed! Renowned DJs from all over the world will be dominating Playa del Carmen’s dance floors for 10 days, and even taco places and restaurants suddenly convert to a pop-up event.
1 The music
Over the past 10 years the event has blossomed to a top destination for electronic music lovers. The biggest names among the techno and electronic music scene are heating up Playa del Carmen’s dance floors, among them Carl Cox, Chris Liebing, Tiga, Umek, Supernova and Popof.
2 The setting
Picture the very finest electronic music, wrapped up in a tropical paradise with an endless supply of tacos and tequila. Since the continuously growing crowd has to fit somewhere, the festival features its very own jungle venue, built exclusively for the festival. A shuttle bus will bring you there, and the other venues are within a short walking distance from Playa Palms Beach Hotel. If it’s your first time in Playa del Carmen you should definitely take the time to stroll down the 5th Avenue and visit some Mayan ruins!
3 The 10th anniversary
For this milestone event, the organizers splashed out, announcing the biggest and best BPM Festival yet. About 80 showcases and over 100 artists from all over the world will be rocking the turntables at more than 75 events.
4 The people
With people attending from 72 different countries, the BPM Festival has become a veritable pilgrimage for electronic music lovers. Listen to good music and meet new people from all over the world every day!
5 The food
At most festivals around the globe you eat stale pizza or even forget to eat at all. Not in Playa del Carmen. Most of the venues are just next door to restaurants and in general places where you can get delicious tacos or even seafood. Just pause for half an hour and refuel energy with some tacos al pastor!
6 The Party never stops!
During the day you dance from 12 pm to 9 pm at the beach club locations, and at night the clubs open from 10 pm until 6 am. Be prepared for the craziest week of your life!
The Playa Palms Beach Hotel wishes all BPM Festival goers a lot of fun!
