5 Money, money, money
There are a few things to consider when traveling to Mexico, First, remember that the local currency is Mexican Pesos. Best is to change money in your country and already arrive with some pesos in cash. Once you are in Playa del Carmen, the cheapest and easiest way is to get pesos from an ATM. At many places, you can pay in US dollars too, but check the exchange rate first! Most importantly, inform your bank that you are traveling to Mexico. Purchases outside of your home country made with your credit or debit card may be seen as suspicious, leading to suspension or cancellation of your cards. 6 Getting around in Playa del Carmen
When traveling to Playa del Carmen, you will arrive at the Cancun International Airport. From there it’s about a 50 minutes’ drive to Playa del Carmen. You can either organize a private airport transfer with us at Playa Palms Beach Hotel. Alternatives are taking a taxi or a shared taxi, or the public bus. The latter is an economic and safe way to travel.
